Jaymar offers a vast range of all the most popular styles of dance from around the world, with  such a diverse range from the South-American samba to the Viennese waltz, and the Spanish Paso-doble to the street dance scene of the RnB culture, we feel there is something for everyone, whatever your taste or aims.

 

Ballroom: - Consisting of five dances that are:-

 

Waltz  Probably the most famous of the ballroom dances is a slow elegant, flowing dance. A dance born in the suburbs of Vienna and in the Alpine region of Austria as early as the 17th century.

 

Slow Foxtrot  The suave sophisticated style first danced in the summer of 1914 by Vaudevillian Harry Fox.

 

Tango  One of the most fascinating of all dances. Originating in the West Indies is passionate powerful and intense.

 

Quickstep  Featuring both the light, airy foot movements of the Charleston and the "floating through space" of the Waltz. The music is upbeat and this is a fun lively dance.

 

Viennese Waltz  Although generally not taught in social classes, it is one of the most famous. Originating in Austria in the 17th century, the music of the Viennese Waltz is elegant, grand and full of passion. The dance is beautiful and is a pleasure to watch.

Latin American: -  Also consists of five dances

Cha Cha Cha Originally derived from the Mambo and Rumba, the Cha Cha Cha was the rage in the 1950's and is probably the most popular social Latin dance. The Jive is an accumulation of, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Lindy, Swing and Rock n Roll and was brought to England from the United States during the Second World is an up-beat cheeky and playful dance.

Samba  Born from African and Portuguese music in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil has many types of Samba; more elegant saloon dancing, and the wild, uninhibited popular dancing associated with Carnival.

Rumba  The dance mainly developed in Cuba, although similar movements started in a few other Caribbean islands is a sexy, passionate dance and a favourite for the ladies.

Paso-doble  A lively, theatrical Spanish dance, developed in France the dance is based around the concept of the bullfight.  The lady depicting the cape.

Jive  A fast and fun dance that is an accumulation of, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Lindy, Swing and Rock n Roll and was brought to England from the United States during the Second World.

Country n Western  A fun and popular style, based around country music this offers an endless number of different dances from laid back and easy going to up-beat and boot kicking  fun , no partner required for this one so a great way to socialise.

Salsa  With similarities with  the Samba and Cha Cha Cha, and has become very popular  in recent years. This is an energetic dance ideal for toning your body.

 

Mambo  The dance that came to popular attention in the 1940s. The fusion of Swing and Cuban music produced this fascinating rhythm and in turn created a sensational new dance called Mambo.

 

Merengue  The national dance of the Dominican Republic and is a good way to start familiarizing yourself with Cuban Motion, which is the way your body moves in all Latin dances.

 

Rock n Roll  Almost like a slow jive, made popular in the 1930’s and 40’s and brought to England by American soldiers.

 

Street Dance  The new craze that is popular  with  young  people, due to its origins from R n B  music, this is an up tempo and extremely energetic form of exercise.
